CalcBoard / Calculator History on iPhone
How to See Your Calculator History on iPhone
iOS 18 finally added history to the built-in Calculator. Here is where to find it, what it does not do, and the options if you are on an older iPhone.
Download CalcBoard FreeOn iOS 18 and later
Apple added calculation history to the built-in Calculator in iOS 18. To open it:
- Open the Calculator app.
- Tap the menu button in the corner of the display (the icon with horizontal lines).
- Choose History.
Past calculations are grouped by Today, Previous 7 Days, and Previous 30 Days. Tap an entry to bring it back into the display, or press and hold to copy the expression, copy the result, or delete it. There is a Clear option to wipe the list.
If History is missing
- Check your iOS version in Settings → General → About. History requires iOS 18 or later; earlier versions do not have it at all.
- Make sure you are in the Calculator app, not Math Notes inside the Notes app — they are related but separate, and Math Notes keeps its own record inside the note.
What the built-in history does not do
- No search. You scroll to find something.
- No labels or bookmarks. Every entry looks alike, so a figure you will need again is no easier to find than one you will not.
- Rolling 30 days. Older entries drop off.
- No export. You can copy one entry at a time; there is no way to get the list out as a file.
The other way to keep a record
A third-party calculator can go further, and this is the part where we are describing our own app, so treat it accordingly. CalcBoard saves every calculation automatically and adds:
- Bookmarks and custom labels — name a calculation “Q3 quote” and find it later.
- Search across your history (Premium).
- CSV export to the clipboard for pasting into a spreadsheet (Premium).
- 500 entries with Premium, or your last 10 free — not a rolling 30-day window.
- Per-panel history, since each of the up-to-eight calculator panels keeps its own.
It requires iOS 16, so it also works on iPhones that will never get iOS 18's built-in history.
Is calculator history private?
Apple's Calculator history stays on your device. CalcBoard's is stored in a local database on your device too — there is no account, no sync, and no analytics SDK in the app, so nothing you calculate is transmitted anywhere. Both can be cleared at any time.
